Explore the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport Edition

Honda’s exciting line of rugged, off-road SUVs has been kicked off with the TrailSport edition of the 2022 Honda Passport. This new trim represents the Passport’s rise to the challenge of more difficult terrain while remaining true to Honda’s notoriety for lower emissions and elevated safety standards. Adventurous and hardy, this family SUV has received a significant upgrade for traversing the road less travelled, and there is likely more to come.

What Are Some of the Upgrades?

Much like the original Passport, the TrailSport edition stands with 8.1 inches of ground clearance to make way for its all-wheel-drive performance. If you’re looking to haul more than the usual amount of camping gear this SUV can also tow up to 5,000 pounds.

The biggest upgrade you’ll notice is the powerful new tire package. 18-inch Firestone Destination LE 2 all-season tires are included for better traction on loose terrain while making room for a wider selection of all-terrain options.

Additionally, the TrailSport edition includes:

  • A larger centre console cubby
  • Heated second row seats
  • A power tailgate
  • Driver seat memory (for up to 2 users)
  • Dual chrome outlet and a wider exhaust diameter

Design

The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport screams off-road capability. More rugged details and a wider stance lend this vehicle a powerful “outdoorsy” aesthetic rather than dropping it into the “Costco run family SUV” category. Raised overhangs, higher approach and departure angles, and a widened track (approximately 0.4-inches) give the Passport TrailSport a more assertive presence–not to mention some off-road tread blocks on the outer rim.
The interior of the TrailSport has embraced a sportier style with black leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and high-contrast orange stitching to tie the whole thing together.

Performance

Honda’s TrailSport sets a precedent for combining the smooth and quiet comfort of an SUV with the tough capability of a relentless off-road vehicle. Available upgrades such as the all-terrain tires and custom suspension systems will give you an added edge when facing all types of muddy, rocky, and uneven terrain. The Passport’s Terrain-Management modes are also a great asset for off-roading adventures with the Normal, Snow, Sand, and Mud settings. Honda has also added a dual chrome outlet and widened the exhaust diameter in order to achieve greater engine efficiency and horsepower.
